Η ταινία του Γκιγιέρμο ντελ Τόρο «Το σχήμα του νερού» ηγείται των υποψηφιοτήτων για τις Χρυσές Σφαίρες 2018 συγκεντρώνοντας συνολικά επτά υποψηφιότητες, μεταξύ των οποίων εκείνη της καλύτερης ταινίας, ανακοινώθηκε σήμερα.
Η ταινία «Lady Bird» με θέμα την ενηλικίωση μιας έφηβης περιλαμβάνεται επίσης στις ταινίες με τις περισσότερες υποψηφιότητες (4), όπως και η ταινία «Όλα τα χρήματα του κόσμου» , η τελευταία του Ρίντλεϊ Σκοτ, μερικά από τα γυρίσματα της οποίας χρειάστηκε να ξαναγίνουν επειγόντως λόγω του σεξουαλικού σκανδάλου που έπληξε τον πρωταγωνιστή της, τον Κέβιν Σπέισι.
Εκτός από «Το σχήμα του νερού», η ταινία για την ελευθερία του Τύπου «The Post» , η αφήγηση του Δευτέρου Παγκοσμίου Πολέμου «Δουνκέρκη» και το γκέι ρομάντσο «Call Me By Your Name» επελέγησαν επίσης για την κατηγορία της καλύτερης ταινίας.
Οι νικητές θα ανακοινωθούν στις 7 Ιανουαρίου κατά την 75η τελετή των βραβείων Χρυσές Σφαίρες που θα αναμεταδοθεί τηλεοπτικά.
