Η Αμερικανίδα R&B καλλιτέχνης H.E.R κέρδισε χθες το βραβείο Grammy για Τραγούδι της Χρονιάς με το «I Can’t Breathe», έναν ύμνο που καλεί στον τερματισμό των φυλετικών διακρίσεων και της αστυνομικής βαρβαρότητας στον απόηχο των διαδηλώσεων που πυροδότησε η δολοφονία του Τζορτζ Φλόιντ την περασμένη άνοιξη.
Το «I Can’t Breathe» αναφέρεται στα τελευταία λόγια του Έρικ Γκάρνερ, ενός μαύρου Αμερικανού που πέθανε από ασφυξία κατά τη σύλληψή του από την αστυνομία στη Νέα Υόρκη τον Ιούλιο του 2014.
Στα βραβεία Grammy που απονεμήθηκαν το βράδυ χθες Κυριακή στο Λος Άντζελες, η ράπερ Megan Thee Stallion βραβεύτηκε επίσης ως καλύτερη νέα καλλιτέχνιδα.
